Session 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm (School Finance In-Depth Coaching)

Timely Topics: School Finance & ESSER

During this session, we will address two topics critical to districts and your communities right now: telling your ESSER story, and understanding the current school finance landscape in Colorado. As ESSER winds down, it is crucial to be able to share with your stakeholders the impact these dollars had in your district and on student outcomes. We’ll share the tools we’ve developed to help you tell your story without having to start from scratch. We will also take time to update you on important school finance topics and issues at the state level, including updates on the School Finance Task Force, potential property tax changes, and more.

School Finance In-Depth Coaching

Whether you are a new Business Manager or an experienced CFO, this session will have something for everyone.  Topics will include:

  • Audit Workpaper Preparation
  • Mill Levy Certification
  • Budget Strategies to Maximize Resources by Looking for Pockets of Inefficiencies
  • Compensation Structure & Strategies

Part 2: Jumping off the Deep End: Where to Start when it comes to Long-term Sustainability (Ashley Stephen, Platte Canyon School District)

Use what you now know about your District in terms of size, demographics, and resources to begin modeling the future of your District. Do you need fewer locations, a more flexible workforce and a better utilization of your current buildings? Bring your data and start to work towards modeling what long term sustainability means for your District and how you can communicate your findings to stakeholders along the way!
